Hyderabad: Taking forward the promises made in the past few months, Panchayat Raj, IT and Municipal Administration Minister K T Rama Rao on Thursday released a 100-day action plan for taking of up development activities in all municipalities.

Unveiling the 100-day development plan, he said efforts were also being made to offer online services for the convenience of citizens. “Unlike in the past, State government is keen on helping people to get single-time building permissions. Henceforth, applicants will get a reply from officials within 30 days on the status of their requests for constructing new structures in GHMC and HMDA limits,” he said.

With an aim to improve the best civic infrastructure and encourage organised development in GHCM limits, Rama Rao said Rs 200 crore would be spent for laying BT roads and Rs 30 crore for regularization and de-silting ‘nalas’.

He said that ward-wise and area-wise committees would be formed for taking up civic works in a transparent and speedy manner involving people. Citizens would take part in the town hall meetings to put forward their issues. “This initiative will be implemented in all 150 divisions and will begin from Hydernagar division,” he said.

As part of Swatch Hyderabad, he said, 2,500 autos would be pressed into service to collect garbage of two types from every household. He also stated that online monitoring system would be in place through e-office. A plan was on cards to develop 359 sports stadiums in cooperation of youth clubs and associations for setting up gyms.

The citizens could drop their suggestions on the GHMC portal to be coming up soon on the lines of www.mygovernment.in by the Centre, he added. Rama Rao also said a toll-free number in HMDA would be introduced soon to receive complaints and address them.

It was also decided to give 32,000 new tap connections at an estimated cost of Rs 40 crore and distribute 3.5 crore saplings to people for greenery by May 31. KTR also said that he would come again on June 2 to give a report card of the 100-day plan of development.

The Minister said as part of the cleaning Hussainsagar lake, Kukatpally nala was diverted with Rs 30 crore. Stressing on the need to have coordination between the departments, Rama Rao said that a joint action group would be formed with departments like GHMC, Transport, Police, Energy, R&B and HMWSSB.

These departments would coordinate and discuss among themselves before taking up works, he informed.
The Minister said government would act tough when it comes to acquiring encroached land or implementation of any other scheme.
