Divine Light’ an art and cultural group of the Brahma Kumaris in association with Department of Culture, Government of Telangana recently organised Bathukamma celebrations at Ravindra Bharathi.

Artistes from Russia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Armenia, Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Belarus participated in the event. The dance groups performed traditional dances from their respective countries while Liudmila Khotuleva from Belarus performed traditional Indian Bharatanatyam dance. A few other artistes from Russia joined her in Kathak style.

There was a beautiful presentation of Kathak dance ensemble by the students of Ravinder Raju from Hyderabad. The special attraction of the evening was singer Albert Asadullin from Tatarstan, who sang the famous ‘Maa Tujhe Salaam’ followed by the famous Raj Kapoor film number ‘Mera Joota Hai Japani’.

The concluding item was the beautiful ‘Bathukamma’ traditional dance of the region of Telangana, which was performed by all the artistes from different countries. Ajmera Chandulal, Minister for Culture, B Venkatesam, Secretary Culture and Mamidi Harikrishna, Director Culture; Government of Telangana were present for the occasion.
