Crafted for Diwali

With a handful of days remaining for the festival of lights, the streets of the city are all decked up with Diwali delights. Take a drive around and one can see artisans putting finishing touches on clay lamps, Goddess Lakshmi idols and other adornments in Amberpet, Uppal and Nagole.

Generation-old casters in Dhulpet and Nampally are in the process of solidifying clay idols for Lakshmi pooja. The sale of sweets, firecrackers, diays and lanterns has begun in iconic locations, such as Begum Bazar in the Old City and General Bazar in Secunderabad.
