Nizamabad: District Collector Dr Yogitha Rana urged the people to go in for cashless or digital transactions in the district in the wake of demonetisation of the Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 currency notes.
Speaking to the people after inspecting the mee-seva centres at the Gandhigunj and the agricultural market yard in the town on Tuesday, she said that digital transactions would reduce corruption in the society.
She also spoke to the small traders at the market.
The District Collector said that people in the district should be made aware of the benefits of digital transactions.
She said that payments for all types of utilities like water bills and electricity could be made online by downloading an App on their smart phones.
It could yield better results, she added.
Collector Rana said that the State government was taking steps to set up micro ATMs at the vegetable market to benefit the farmers and traders.
Everybody should open savings bank accounts without fail as the entire future depends on cashless transactions, she added.
She said that customers, farmers and traders could carry out their activities without any problems.
She also urged the bankers to hold awareness camps for their customers on cashless district transactions.
Collector Rana said that she has been carrying out her financial activities using debit cards and drawing money from ATMs for the last three years and said that it was very useful and advised the people to use this method.
