Nalgonda: Politicians, officials and leaders of Dalit organisations paid floral tributes to the Architect of Indian Constitution, Dr BR Ambedkar, on his death anniversary on Tuesday
In Suryapet, Energy and SC Development Minister G Jagadish Reddy paid respects and garlanded the statue of Ambedkar located near new bus stand.
Political leaders, officials and members of several Dalit organisations recall the services of the Architect of Indian Constitution for the uplift of downtrodden communities on the leader’s 60th death anniversary
Addressing the gathering on the occasion, the Minister informed that State government was following the footsteps of Ambedkar for uplift of Dalits and other oppressed sections of the society.
He listed out various government welfare schemes designed for the strengthening of Dalits in the State. Dreams of Ambedkar could be achieved only through collective efforts of all sections of the people, he underlined.
In Nalgonda on behalf of District administration Collector Gaurav Uppal paid tributes to Ambedkar and garlanded his statue near DEO Office.
Addressing the gathering in a meeting held on the occasion, the Collector said Dr BR Ambedkar being a victim of inequality fought for the progress and welfare of the neglected sections of the society till last his breath.
“Ideology of the legendary leader is universal and humane and, is advisable to follow for the creation of equality society,” Uppal said.
Whereas in Bhongir, officials, politicians and leaders of dalit organisations paid homage to Ambedkar, at his statue located near the bus stand.
Meanwhile, as mark of respect to their loving leader Ambedkar, SC wings of political parties and Dalit organisations organised free meals distribution programmes and blood donation camps across the districts.
In Khammam: Congress leaders paid tributes to Dr Ambedkar highlighting his contribution to the society.
The Congress leaders, who gathered at the Sanjeev Reddy Bhavan here on Tuesday, stressed the need for spreading thoughts and ideologies of the legendary leader which were relevant in the context of issues currently faced by the people in the country.
“Ambedkar worked to foster egalitarian society and shed caste discrimination in the country,” INTUC president Kotha Sriramulu said.
Referring to his contributions towards social justice, party’s Minority State Cell convener Md Fazal said Ambedkar shaped the future of free India.
Corporators Vaddeboina Narsimha Rao and Balagangadhar Tilak recalled that Ambedkar organised Untouchable's Conference at Nagpur in 1918 to herald the problems of Dalits.
Other leaders also echoed the late leader’s work for the uplift of Dalits and the socially backward classes in the country.
Mahila Congress district president Bandi Mani, ST Cell State Convener Banoth Raju, ST Cell District president Banoth Balaji Rao and senior leaders D Venkat Rao Naik, Chota Baba, Y Satyanarayana, A Radhakrishna, Gandham Sita Laxmi, Kasimalla Bhavani and Ananta Laxmi were among others present.
Later, the leaders garlanded the statue of BR Ambedkar at the Zilla Parishad Centre.
