From Karimnagar, the train will run on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday while in Nizamabad, it will start from Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The people who were facing difficulties going to Marthad are a happy lot today. Works relating to the laying of tracks and the construction of railway stations are already completed. Inspections were also done. The Railway officials have decided to extend the Pushpill passenger train up to Morthad.
With the extension of the train services, not only will the people be able to commute easily to Nizamabad, but several towns in the district will also be developed. Trade and business activities will pick up in Jagtiyal, Peddapalli, Karimnagar and Nizamabad. In the past, MPs from the State used to lobby for higher allocation of funds in the Railway Budget for laying new railway lines in Nizamabad district and this is the first railway line announced for Nizamabad district.
The construction works relating to the laying of tracks between Peddapalli and Nizamabad are going on at a slow pace. The survey was completed way back in 1984 and the foundation stone for 180 km long railway line was laid by the former Prime Minister P V Narasimha Rao in 1994 and Rs 4.17 crore were allocated for it. The costs have escalated and the budgetary allocations over the years have been meagre. For one reason or the other, the works were not delayed.
However, with the intervention of Nizamabad MP K Kavitha and the interest shown by her , Rs 70 crore were allocated in the Railway budget for the year 2016-17, the works have been completed. Finally, the train services would start running from December 30.
Speaking to The Hans India here on Monday, some of the passengers while expressing their happiness said that they could not only travel not only in some Telangana districts, but also up to Maharashtra with the introduction of the new train.
