Wardhannapeta: NSS unit has organised blood donation camp at Bharati Junior and Degree College in Wardhannapeta on Wednesday. Assistant Commissioner of Police of Mamanuru sub-division S Mahender, after inaugurating the camp, said that blood donation is the greatest of all the donations.

Speaking on the occasion, the College Principal Janugu Ashok Reddy and correspondent Lekula Mahender Reddy said that students also should engage in social awareness activities apart from academics. He became nostalgic remembering his association with NSS in the past. Donating blood through these camps will help the needy in time.

Once the blood is donated, new blood would form in the body within three months from the date of donation. There are no side-effects and it is safe to donate blood. It is the responsibility of volunteers to clear any such kind of doubts of the villagers,” the Principal suggested.

Later, students and teachers donated around 50 units of blood under the supervision of Red Cross team. On this occasion, ACP Mahender presented certificates to the blood donors and commended for arranging such programmes.

Junior College Principal Madireddy Devender Reddy, NSS programme co-ordinators S Kanaka Chari, G Rajender Reddy, members of Red Cross team Dr PoliReddy Srinivas, lecturers M Anil Kumar, Ramakrishna, Bhanu, Ravi, Krishna and others were present.
