Mancherial: The week-long celebrations of 28th National Road Safety week began here on Tuesday. Transport department organised 2K Run from IB road Junction to ACC gate.

District Collector R V Karnan, Deputy Commissioner of Police John Wesly and transport officer Krishnaiah flagged off the 2K Run.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector asked the vehicle riders to follow road safety rules to avoid accidents. He advised bike riders to wear helmets, those travelling in cars to wear seat belts and drivers against driving under the influence of alcohol.

Parents were asked not to encourage their wards below 18 years to drive vehicles. John Wesly said stern action would be taken against those who don’t follow road safety rules.

He also said disciplinary action would be taken against school managements if the school vehicles, including three-wheelers, carry students beyond their capacity. Krishnaiah also spoke on the occasion.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Chennaiah, Motor Vehicle Inspector Vivekananda Reddy, Assistant Motor Vehicle Inspectors Srinivas, Srikanth, Prathyusha, transport office staff, Orient cement company staff, government degree college students, NCC cadets, Gudipeta Battalion police, RTC staff and many others participated in the 2K run.
