Minister Jogu Ramanna bats for increasing forest cover to 33% in Telangana
Forest and BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna stated that the State government was planning to utilise the services of village Haritha Protection Committees to make Haritha Haram programme a grand success.
Nalgonda: Forest and BC Welfare Minister Jogu Ramanna stated that the State government was planning to utilise the services of village Haritha Protection Committees to make Haritha Haram programme a grand success.
On Tuesday, the Minister toured Nalgonda district and conducted a review meeting with all district officials at Collectorate.
Ramanna went through the reports of saplings required for this year and saplings survived the last year to supply additional saplings for plantation.
Saplings would be supplied with tag of nursery address and steps have been taking to protect the saplings with people support,” he said.
The Minister gave details of expenditure spent on plantation and for watering and informed that teak saplings planted last year under Haritha Haram could not survive in the district. He advised officials to select other saplings in the place of teak in next Haritha Haram programme.
Considering the demand of Indian palm trees in the district, government would supply the required saplings, he assured.
Ramanna further advised officials to put all efforts to raise the percentage of forest cover to 33.
Speaking on BC Welfare, the Minister said government was taking all measures for the welfare of Backward Classes development.
He ordered officials concerned to sanction required funds for the repairs of BC hostels. Stating that the government has decided to set up CCTV cameras in hostels, the Minister said the government had sanctioned Rs 3 crore for the construction of BC study circles in every district in the State.
As part of the tour, he checked the status of the sapling planted by Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao at Gundlapalli during the launch of Haritha Haram programme.
The Minister also visited nurseries in Nakrekal and Tipparthi mandals apart from blind school and BC hostel in Nalgonda town, where he interacted with students and inquired about their issues.
District Collector Gaurav Uppal, TSFDC chairman Banda Narender Reddy, MLAs Vemula Veeresham, Parbhakar Reddy, DFO Shantha Ram, DRO Kheemla Naik, DRDO Anjaiah, RDO Venkata Chary and others accompanied the Minister.
