Will rake up MSP issue during budget session, TDP promises farmers
The issue of support price to chilli, red-gram, soybean and turmeric farmers would be raised in the State Assembly’s budget session, said Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy.
Warangal: The issue of support price to chilli, red-gram, soybean and turmeric farmers would be raised in the State Assembly’s budget session, said Telangana TDP working president A Revanth Reddy.
He said the State government has failed to come to the rescue of the farmers, who were distressed over the fall in prices of chilli, red-gram and other agricultural produce. The government must initiate measures to ensure profitable price to the farmers, he demanded.
Revanth Reddy along with the party senior leaders Seetakka, R Prakash Reddy, Vem Narender Reddy, E Mallesham and others visited Enumamula agricultural market on Thursday and interacted with chilli and red-gram farmers.
The farmers complained that chilli, which was sold at a price of Rs 10,000 one month ago, was now bought by traders at Rs 4,000 per quintal. The same was the case with red-gram, the farmers told the visiting TDP leaders.
With the fall in prices the farmers were not able get back their investment, the TDP leaders were told.
The TDP, along with likeminded political parties, farmers’ organisations, would fight for the cause of farmers. Besides ensuring a profitable price, efforts would be made to get bonus for the produce already sold, Revanth Reddy assured the farmers.
Later on the day, the TDP leaders have taken out a massive protest rally from the market to Warangal Urban District Collectorate, where they submitted a memorandum to the officials seeking enhanced price for chilli and red-gram farmers.
Speaking to press persons on the occasion, Revanth Reddy alleged that, even as the farmers were being exploited by the traders, the TRS government remained silent spectator. The Chief Minister, K Chandrashekar Reddy, has got time to make pilgrimage but not to address farmers’ issues, they criticised.
Marketing Minister T Harish Rao and the CM were making tall claims on ensuring support price to farmers but the situation at ground level was different. The CM and the Minister should visit the market in Warangal to know the ground realities.
Reveal original cost of ornaments presented to Tirumala Lord: Revanth
Referring to the gold jewellery worth Rs 5.5 crore presented to Tirumala temple by the CM, Revanth said KCR should have used his own money to fulfil his religious vows, instead of using public money. He demanded the temple EO to assess and reveal the true of value of the ornaments presented by the CM.
