Four killed and 17 others suffered injuries in a dreadful road accident at Atipamula village of Kattangur mandal in Nalgonda district on Thursday wee hours.

​Kattangur: Four killed and 17 others suffered injuries in a dreadful road accident at Atipamula village of Kattangur mandal in Nalgonda district on Thursday wee hours.

The incident took place when Vijayawada-bound Autonagar depot RTC Bus hit a chemical tanker from the rear side.

The deceased were identified as driver Satyanarayana of Vijayawada, Vemapati Ganesh of Ramchandranagar of Suryapet district, Bhushya Suresh of Kodad and Sushila of Andhra Pradesh. After receiving information, the 108 services shifted the injured to Kamineni Hospital of Narketpalli.


HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Deceased include two from Telangana and two from AP
  • 108 staff, locals and police fall ill after inhaling noxious gases from the chemical tanker during rescue operation

While one died on the spot, three other injured persons breathed their last while undergoing treatment at the hospital.

At the time of accident, 40 passengers were aboard the bus. Meanwhile, some of the staff of 108, locals and police fell ill after inhaling the noxious smell from the chemical tanker during the rescue operation.

SP Prakash Reddy, OSD Venkateshwarlu, Nakrekal rural CI Viswa Prasad and other officials examined the accident spot.

Meanwhile, post-mortem of deceased bodies was conducted at Nakrekal government hospital. Kattangur SI Ranjith Kumar registered a case and further investigation is on.
