Later, to create awareness among the people on Jalanidhi programme, a meeting was organised at Gullapeta village panchayat of Jagtial mandal.

Speaking at the meeting, the J-C said that the Jalanidhi is a very good programme that enables to increase the groundwater levels.

A few areas located at higher altitudes and unable to get water from SRSP and almost all the rain water flowing into Rriver Godavari before its percolation into the ground was resulting in depletion of groundwater levels, he observed.

Nagendra suggested people to take necessary steps for trapping rain water for increasing the groundwater levels along with constructing soaking pits in their houses.

Awareness would be created among the people through Jalanidhi publicity vehicles and the methods to conserve water along with creating awareness about the developmental activities taken up the village development departments in the district, added the Joint Collector.

District and Rural Development Agency Project Director Aruna Sri, District Forest Officer Ramesh, District Agriculture Officer Bhagya Lakshmi, Haritha Haram District Coordinator Santhosh, Jagtial MPP G Manasa, ZPTC P Naga Lakshmi, MPTC Vijay and Gullapeta Sarpanch Shekar were also present along with others.
