​Mahabubabad: District Collector Dr Preethi Meena ordered the officials to take necessary steps for protecting the saplings planted under Haritha Haram programme.
She chaired a review meeting with the officials to discuss on the progress of works of Haritha Haram, NREGS and on the construction works of Independent Sanitary Latrines (ISLs) at the Collectorate Conference Hall in Mahabubabad on Thursday.
Addressing the officials, Collector Preethi Meena said that it is the responsibility of the officials concerned to look after the saplings which were planted under Haritha Haram programme within the premises of institutions and departments.
If any sapling dries up, a new sapling must be planted in its place immediately taking great care next time by watering the plant regularly by observing every Friday as ‘Green Friday’, she ordered.
The Collector asked the mandal officers concerned to grow required saplings to meet the set target of planting saplings under Haritha Haram next phase. She expressed her ire over mandal officers of Kesamudram, Maripeda, Nellikudur and Thorrur for not taking initiation for growing saplings till date.
The Collector said that about 109 dumping yards were sanctioned for the district, out of which the establishment works of 47 dumping yards were under progress along with completing the establishment of eight dumping yards and she ordered the MPDOs to take necessary steps for establishing the dumping yards under each village panchayat.
Joint Collector Damodar Reddy, District Forest Officer Krishna Goud, DRDO Ganesh, R&B Executive Engineer Ravi Kumar, MPDOs and Tahsildars attended the meeting.
