Hanamkonda: Former minister late Dasyam Pranay Bhasker stood as an inspiration to Telangana movement, noted V Prakash, the Chairman of State Water Resources Development Corporation (SWRDC). He paid tributes to Pranay Bhasker on his 61st birth anniversary and 20th death anniversary, which falls on July 6. He attended different programmes organised by Pranay Mitra Mandali in the city on Thursday.

Speaking on the occasion, Prakash recalled that late Pranay Bhasker was the first MLA to quit his post for the cause of statehood and raised the issue of separate Telangana in the State assembly in 1996. His initiative has later laid strong foundation for the final leg of Telangana movement.

MLA D Vinay Bhasker stated that Pranay Bhasker, who had close association with Telangana ideologues like K Jayashanker, Kaloji Narayana Rao and others, had worked for the welfare of downtrodden sections in the region. ‘He was a great inspiration to young generations,’ he added.

On the day, under the aegis of the Mitra Mandali insurance bonds were distributed to nearly 100 auto rickshaw drivers at Kadipikonda and conducted programmes like ‘Annadanam’, distribution of fruits and breads to the poor.

KU SDLCE Director Prof Ch Dinesh Kumar, municipal councillors D Vijay Bhasker, B Ranjith Rao, Md Abubakar and M Swapna, the Mitra Mandali president Ashok and others were present.
