Explaining about the various welfare schemes introduced by the government, Roads and Buildings Minister Tummala Nageswar Rao urged the people to utilise these schemes along with the benefits provided to them. He laid foundation stone for the construction of Overhead Service Reservoir (OHSR) tanks at Palair segment at a cost of Rs 60 lakhs and at Arempula at a cost of Rs 70.66 lakhs. He distributed various units worth Rs 68 lakh to about 34 gudumba traders belonging to Schedule Tribes, who stopped manufacturing and selling illicit liquor as part of rehabilitation programme, and also 15 units of sheep to the beneficiaries of shepherd community under Sheep Rearing Scheme. He also distributed cheques to about 102 beneficiaries under Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Laskhmi schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Nageshwar Rao ordered the officials of various departments to solve the grievances received from the villagers immediately without delay. He questioned the R&B officials for not calling for tenders for the construction of 1,000 double bedroom houses in the mandal in the second phase of double bedroom housing scheme.
“The government is determined to uplift all sections of people, especially women in the State. Hence launched construction of houses, sanctioning of lands, pensions and introduced Shadi Mubarak and Kalyana Lakshmi for the women,” he explained.
The Minister assured that safe drinking water will be supplied to every household in the State by the next Ugadi festival. Sheep rearing scheme introduced to uplift Yadava community and Sarpanches and MPTCs of villages must take the responsibility of purchasing and distributing sheep units to the beneficiaries after selecting them transparently, suggested the Minister.
Tummala ordered the officials to distribute one coconut sapling to every household asking them to plant it under the third phase of Haritha Haram programme.
