He along with District Collector RV Karnan flagged off a rally of various art forms at the IB junction here on on Wednesday in connection with the World Adivasi Day.

Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao fulfilled the assurances made to the tribals when he had visited Jodeghat in connection with Komuram Bheem death anniversary in 2014, he said. A memorial for Komuram Bheem, who fought for Jal, Jungal and Jameen, a smrutivan and a tribal museum were set up and transportation amenities were provided at a cost of Rs 25 crore, he added.

The government transformed tribal thandas with a population of 500 each into a village panchayat. A bronze statue of Komuram Bheem was set up at Jodeghat at the behest of the tribals, he said.

Later participating in the World Adivasi Day celebrations held at the FCA function hall along with MLA Nadipelli Diwakar Rao and Tribal Welfare Official Madavi Ganga Rao, he greeted the Adivasis on the occasion and explained the significance of the day.

The government came to the rescue of the tribals in all respects and took measures to promote Podu cultivation among them. He announced release of Rs 5 lakh for construction of an Adivasi Bhavan here out of his constituency development funds. For the first time, the state government implemented the scheme Kalyana Lakshmi for the benefit of tribals.

He called upon everyone to strive for development of the Adivasis a la Komuram Bheem.

The rally of various art forms was impressive.

Adivasi Mahila Sangham president Durva Chilukubai, Telangana Praja Front secretary Srimannarayana, Tudum Debba president Kudimeti tirupati, Adivasi Students’ Union president Vedma Kishan, Adivasi Teachers’ association president Madavi Barik Rao and others participated.
