Delhi, TN women teams in throwball finals

Vijayawada: Defending women champion Delhi and Tamil Nadu women team reached Vikas Educational Institutions in Nunna near Vijayawada to take part in the 40th Senior National Throwball Championship being organised jointly by Andhra Pradesh Throw Ball Association and the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh (SAAP).

Men section defending champion Delhi, along with Madhya Pradesh, host team Andhra Pradesh and Haryana team, entered the semi-final matches.

Defending women champion Delhi had easily won the semi-final match over Madhya Pradesh by 15-7 and 15-13 and entered into finals. In second semi-final match, Tamil Nadu beat Odisha by 15-9, 16-14. In this match, Odisha players tried for win and once equal the scores. Unfortunately Odisha lost the match.

In the Men section, defending champion Delhi entered the semi-finals by defeating Tamil Nadu and host Andhra Pradesh team also reached the semis by beating Kerala.

On Wednesday, the final day of four-day tournament will be held.

BCCI selection committee chairman MSK Prasad will attend as chief guest and give prizes to winners and runners.
