Bhimavaram: The Veeravasaram police and the mandal level Joint Action Committee conducted an awareness meeting on the High Court directives on cockfights, at Panja Vemavaram village in Veeravasaram mandal on Tuesday.

The Veeravasaram Sub-Inspector, Nagam Srinivasa Rao while addressing the people at the awareness meeting said, “The villagers should not indulge in cockfight as it is banned by Andhra Pradesh High Court.” He said that cockfight and other gambling activities ruin families in rural areas and people should not indulge in cockfight and other gambling practices. He suggested the youth to participate in traditional games like kabaddi and kho-kho during Pongal season.

Mandal Tahsildar T Mukkanti and others participated in the meeting.
