​Sircilla: On the occasion of National Deworming Day, District Collector D Krishna Bhaskar along with Joint Collector Yasmine Basha distributed Albandazole tablets to the students of Government Girls High School to prevent the growth of the intestinal worms, here on Friday.

Speaking on the occasion, the Collector advised the students to maintain their surroundings clean and tidy along with preventing open-defecation and using of slippers while going to toilets.

He suggested that everyone must use toilets to make the district open defecation-free and this also prevents the spread of infectious diseases.

District Medical and Health Officer Dr Ramesh said that Albandazole tablets are distributed free to about 1,25,688 children below 19 years of age present in anganwadi centres, schools and colleges in the district.

Joint Collector Yasmina Basha said that for physical and mental health all the children must be administered Albandazole tablets without fail after the meals.

Project Director Sarawathi, Intermediate Education Officer Ramachandram, Dr Suman Mohan Rao, Project Officer Dr Chandra Shekar, Dr Aruna, the representative of Voluntary organisation Chintoji Bhaskar, Deputy Mandal Education Officer Anand Bhaskar and School Headmaster Balaiah were present along with others.
