I complained to Sam, a worker in Sai Prasad outfit, that the film was not coming out well due to bad camera work. I requested him to compensate at least by having a good music director. Acclaimed film director, critic and six time national award winner KNT Sastry alleged that he wasn’t given the directors’ credit for the Kannada film Sneha Yatre’, which was written and directed by him.

“As a filmmaker of vast experience I will not stoop down to the level of being only a guide or assistant to a worker, especially when it is my own story,” said Sastry.

“When I was looking for a producer, Amaresh Kumar of Telangana Film Producers Association, came forward to produce this film. It was me who scouted locations near Nanajaangud. Later, Amaresh stepped down as the producer. Sai Prasad, a small-time government promos producer came forward to produce the film. I went to Nasser and convinced him to do the role. Similarly, all the actors in the film were selected by me. My art director Hosmane Murthy, who worked for ‘Tiladaanam’ and ‘Kamli’, both national award winning Telugu films, has done art work. My connection to the film is obvious,” he said.

“I complained to Sam, a worker in Sai Prasad outfit, that the film was not coming out well due to bad camera work. I requested him to compensate at least by having a good music director. From then on, they avoided me. Editing was done in Bengaluru in Sai Prasad studio, and I had visted them while editing was going on. From that movement onwards they kept me away, and it is surprsing to see the Director’s credit has been given to same Sam,” said Sastry, expressing his anguish.

Director Sastry sent a lawyer’s notice to Sai Prasad for copyright violations, but did not pursue the matter since he was busy in another Kannada film, ‘Sarasammana Samadhi’, which also got a Karnataka State Award. “Since I did not file a case, Sai Prasad has outwitted me by filing a case concocting and even misusing my letter head claiming that I owe him some money, which is a different story. The matter is subjudice, and I am fighting it out, and have reserved my right to sue him for copyright violation,” Sastry added.
