Andhra Pradesh Voluntary Health Association (APVHA) undertook an awareness building campaign at Madapati Hanumanth Rao School at Narayanguda to encourage the adoption of preventive measures of dengue by the public.
“Fight dengue for Payal” campaign took place in the presence of Kishan Reddy, MLA, who lent his support to the campaign by addressing school children on the various effects of a mosquito bite, importance of keeping our surroundings clean and encouraged children to fight dengue by adopting certain preventive measures to keep the disease at bay.
“Dengue is a very dangerous disease. We must fight it by keeping our surroundings clean and clearing waste articles on a timely basis.
The fight must begin from our home, our surroundings, our schools and colleges and we should strive to keep Hyderabad clean and safe from dengue,” he said. The session was attended by over 100 school children and teachers who were also educated by the GHMC entomologists on the science behind the growth of a mosquito and the various chemicals used to kill them and eradicate their breeding grounds.
The main activities of the program included awareness drive for students, school contact program that involved reaching out to children so that they understand the dangers of mosquito borne diseases like dengue and adopt preventive measures and workshop and session with health experts to provide medical advice on the prevention and treatment of dengue.
