Eco mana beauty

City based model and Miss India Earth 2013, Sobhita Dhulipala, has been awarded Miss Eco-Beauty title at Miss Earth 2013, for supporting the cause of safe drinking water. Miss Earth is an annual international beauty pageant that creates environmental awareness by encouraging the participants to be socially conscious citizens and promote a relevant cause.

This year the pageant celebrates the theme ‘International Year of Water Cooperation’. As part of her eco-beauty campaign, Sobhita was associated with Pureit’s key NGO partner, Integrated Village Development Program (IVDP) and spent a few days with villagers in Tamil Nadu’s Krishnagiri district, promoting the cause of safe drinking water and explaining about waterborne diseases, the hazards and the ramifications of unsafe drinking water.

During her stay at Krishnagiri, she educated the villagers on the need to invest in a water purifier and also helped install Pureit devices in many households in Thopdikupam village, at the district. Commenting on the occasion, Sobhita said, “I'm overjoyed and extremely grateful to all those who chose to support and vote for me and made it possible to win the Miss Eco-Beauty title at Miss Earth 2013.

More than anything, I am glad that my project about awareness on ‘Safe Drinking Water’ has been so warmly accepted and recognised by the people and the jury.” Badri Narayanan, GM (Water) at Hindustan Unilever Ltd said, “Sobhita has showed great enthusiasm in supporting a noble cause of tackling the issue of unsafe drinking water in India by associating with ‘Pureit Protecting Lives Programme’, to spread awareness about the hazards of unsafe drinking water. On behalf of the entire nation, we wish her to win the ‘Miss Earth 2013’ title as well.”
