The Union Public Service Commission has announced the schedule of the National Defense Academy exam to be held on April 20 next year. The last date for submission of online application will be January 20. The exam will be for admission into Army, Navy and Air Force wings of NDA for the 133rd course and for the 95th course of Indian Naval Academy. The approximate number of vacancies to be filled through this exam will be 375 (NDA-320 and Naval Academy Cadet Entry Scheme- 55).
There are three centres in Andhra Pradesh- Hyderabad, Tirupathi and Visakhapatnam and any candidate can write the exam anywhere. But the UPSC has stated that there will be ceiling in the allotment of each centre- i.e. only a specific number of candidates will be allowed to write there and after that it would be frozen. The allotment will be done on first apply-first given- basis. Candidates must be prepared to write the exam allotted anywhere in their native state or neighbouring state, it said.
Candidates shall be born between July 2 1995 and July 1, 1998. The minimum educational qualification is intermediate. Those who are appearing for the 10+2 or intermediate final exams can also apply. Physical fitness is single most criterion of the admission test.
The fee will be Rs 100 for all general category students and no fee for students belonging to SC and ST categories.
The exam will be for 900 marks and consists of two stages viz psychological test and intelligence test. The first one is for 600 marks in which questions on general English, sciences, humanities and all other general issues will be asked. The intelligent test is only in mathematics and it is for 300 marks. Both the exams are of two-and-half duration and the questions will be in objective mode and there will be negative marking as well. Each wrong answer will cut down into one-fourth of a mark. Successful candidates will be called for the physical agility test and an interview would follow next. The course commences from January 2, 2015.
