By June 2014, Hyderabad will see its first ever Metro Rail train running along the elevated Nagole-Mettuguda stretch, which is nearing completion.

“However, this will be a trial run that will continue for six-nine months, till it is thrown open to the public by March 2015,” said NVS Reddy, MD, Hyderabad Metro Rail, on Saturday.
With just few days away for the New Year to begin, HMR has also set its milestones for completion of the project. “We hope to complete all the pier foundation works by 2015, so that the road would be open for free flow of the traffic,” said Reddy.
The Metro Rail depot at Uppal, the biggest of all HMR depots and the final halting place for metro trains (during night between 12am-4.30 am), is nearing completion with over 80 per cent of work done. Similarly, more than 68 per cent work has been completed at the Miyapur depot.
Meanwhile, a lot of metro coaches manufactured by Hyundai Rotem, South Korea, are expected arrive in the city by May 2015.
By far, a total of Rs 4000 crores has been spent on the project with the government contributing Rs 900 crore. The remaining Rs 3,100 crore has been financed by the project developer Larson & Toubro.
