ITIR is all set to add another feather in the cap of the city. For a city that is synonymous with Information Technology (IT), the Information Technology Investment Region (ITIR) would ensure that the IT revolution spreads even further. The region promises better infrastructure, transportation and jobs in areas like Maheswaram and Raidurg. The foundation stone for the Phase-I works along with a Gaming Animation Media and Entertainment (GAME) Park in a layout of Rs 350 crore was laid on Wednesday. The project is set to be completed in five years

Works for the ITIR phase-I was started at Raidurg on Wednesday. The 30-acre land at Raidurg would house some of the top gaming companies in the world. The gaming hub is being developed at a cost of Rs 350 crore. The project would utilise state-of-the-art technology in developing the GAME Park. Only 20 per cent of the land would be utilised for the construction of buildings and the rest would be utilised for laying roads, electricity, parks, gardens, water and sewerage pipelines.

ITIR would be completed in two phases. Phase-I works would be completed by 2018 and Phase-II by 2038. The idea behind ITIR is to develop the city like Shanghai and the Silicon Valley. Apart from the IT parks, the regions in the ITIR would have multiplexes, shopping malls and international schools. According to the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Area (HMDA) officials, 40 gaming and animation firms (national and international), have registered at the GAME Park.

The ITIR stretches over 202 sq km measuring 50,000 acres. It is estimated that Rs 1.18 lakh crore investments would be generated from IT related firms and Rs 1.01 lakh crore investments from hardware firms. Apart from Raidurg, the other regions include Shamshabad, Maheshwaram and Uppal – Pocharam belt. Officials say that as there is a Fab City at Maheswaram, the Hardware Park too would be developed at that site. The IT and ITES parks would be developed in other areas.

With the South Central Railway (SCR) greenlighting Falaknuma – Umdanagar MMTS line and Rs 80 cr worth flyover works from Moosapet to BHEL expected to be greenlighted, doubts over commuting to the ITIR zones would be laid to rest. The ITIR is expected to generate employment in local areas such as Serilingampally, Hayat Nagar, Saroor Nagar, Rajendra Nagar, Ghatkesar and other pockets nearby.
