GHMC chief asks contractors to speed up Kukatpally nala work

Somesh Kumar, Commissioner, GHMC, directed the contractors to complete the construction of slab culverts across the Kukatpally nala near Deendayal Nagar within three months, as the work was at a snail’s pace. The Commissioner inspected various developmental works in Kukatpally circle on Thursday along with Muddaram Krishna Goud, corporator. He said that the work was allotted to R Mastan Valli & others with a contract amount of Rs 278 lakh and instructed that the work should be completed before the onset of the monsoon.

The Commissioner also informed that construction of slab culvert across the nala near Rajkamal Transport at Fateh Nagar in Kukatpally circle was already sanctioned and directed the officials to complete the tender process quickly.

Somesh inspected the work pertaining to improvement of Kukatpally nala (Chemical nala) taken up with JNNURM funds and JICA funds. Briefing about the projects, he said that the estimated cost of improvement of Kukatpally nala with JNNURM funds was Rs 1,458 lakh, covering 900 metres, for which 72 bottlenecks had to be removed. The estimated cost for improvement of Kukatpally nala with JICA funds was Rs 1,596 lakh, covering 900 metres of length, of which 103 properties had been effected, removing 39 bottlenecks. The Commissioner directed the officials to see that the work should be carried out at a brisk pace.

As requested by the local representatives, the Commissioner promised to bridge the Pipeline Road nearby within 15 days and directed the officials to submit the revised proposals immediately.

R Dhan Singh, engineer-in-chief; S Aleem Basha, zonal commissioner, West Zone; BV Gangadhar Reddy, Deputy Commissioner, Kukatpally circle and other senior officials of the GHMC from engineering, town planning and health sections were present.
