Hydourite Canvas kicked off in city on Wednesday at Prasad IMAX. The unique event through which the city painted its own identity on a 32-feet long and 8-feet high canvas, for a period of three days would conclude today.

It is unique, never tried before and experimental claimed Manoj CS, one of the three trustees of Hydourite Foundation, which is organising Hydourite - India’s Longest performing Art Festival, for the third time.

The novelty of the activity was evident from the fact of number of dignitaries who agreed to grace the occasion. These include: Jayesh Ranjan, IAS, vice chairman and MD of TSIIC; VB Gadgil, CE&MD, L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Ltd; Ramesh Prasad, CMD, Prasads Group; Yamini Reddy, noted Kuchipudi dancer; Kamal Kamaraju, actor and artist; Parvathi Reddy, FICCI core committee member for Urban Infra and Dr Guruva Reddy, chairman, Sunshine Hospitals.

It is a three-day painting event where one painting is completed by many people, starting from the most common man on the streets to the celebrities. One canvas will bind them all. The canvas is divided into 144 boxes and each individual gets to colour one box. The mega canvas will be covered during the painting session and only select boxes will be opened to paint.

This is done so that the final painting is not known before the unveiling on Saturday. Kanthrisa will be the main artist. He will create a rough sketch on this mega canvas and mastermind this mega painting, from start to finish. Each selected individual will have to go through a familirisaiton session to understand the basics of painting,.

After this the individual will paint one box on the mega canvas. The main artist and his associates will guide and help the people in painting their box. So by to night the entire 144 boxes will be filled and the painting will be ready. It will be unveiled at Hydourite’s Curtain Raiser event at CCRT Amphitheater at Madhapur.
