Sweekaar Academy of Rehabilitation Sciences observed World Autism Awareness Day on Thursday. A skit was staged with a message to identify the hidden talent in autistic children. Parents of autistic children shared anecdotes and the speakers at the event highlighted how a child could be diagnosed for autism.

Sweekaar Academy of Rehabilitation Sciences observed World Autism Awareness Day on Thursday. A skit was staged with a message to identify the hidden talent in autistic children. Parents of autistic children shared anecdotes and the speakers at the event highlighted how a child could be diagnosed for autism.

On the disability, Dr P Hanumantha Rao, founder and chairman of Sweekaar Academy, said, “Autism is a lifelong developmental disability that affects how a person communicates with other people. It also affects how they make sense of the world around them. It is part of the autism spectrum and is sometimes referred to as an autism spectrum disorder, or an ASD. The three main areas of difficulty which all people with autism share are sometimes known as the 'triad of impairments'.”
