To ease traffic congestion in Secunderabad, the Clock Tower area has been proposed to be developed as a model junction where the roads will be widened and nearby electrical sub-stations will be shifted. Electrical poles, 11 and 33 kv lines, would be shifted and alterations at the electrical sub-station at Clock Tower in Secunderabad would be taken up for the Metro Rail works.

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner Somesh Kumar directed the officials to examine the feasibility of the plan without disturbing the heritage structure. The officials were instructed to remove electrical poles and barricades from the middle of the roads. The Commissioner along with Additional Commissioner (Traffic) Jitendar, HMR MD NVS Reddy and senior officials from the Water Board, electricity department and irrigation inspected some of the ongoing road widening works for the Metro Rail at Secunderabad on Wednesday.
