It is 15 kilometre away from Secunderabad Railway Station and 40 kilometre away from Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. The area is in close proximity to the firing range of the Army personnel who undergo intensive training for firing practice.

There is a famous Mastan Baba Dargah, where close to 10,000 devotees throng and perform annual urus. There is a historic minaret behind the dargah which was built during the Qutubshahi regime. History

According to locals, Sardar Amin, (a rank equivalent to inspector of police), was said to be transferred from Kowkutla village in Chevella to this village, during the Nizams’ rule. Amin did a lot of work for the village and created peace in the area. Because of his work and goodwill, the village became popular as Kowkoor village, the hometown of Amin.

Bansilal and Gomaram Veera Reddy of the village said that it was originally in Moulali and was shifted to Medchal and later into the Malkajigiri Mandal. “Our forefathers and grandfathers used to go to Sangareddy to attend court sessions by walk by bullock carts. The area was a thick forest,” Bansilal added.

Problems

Malkajigiri MP Ch Malla Reddy said that the issues of development works such as drainage lines, road laying works, cabling works are now in progress, as the Army authorities have cleared their approval. Syed Mustafa and Syed Aslam, sons of the late Syed Abubaker Quadri, founder family members of the Mastan Babab Dargah, said, “The underground water table and the bores dug up by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) have gone dry.

Villagers are suffering water scarcity. The water tankers sent by the GHMC once in a week is not sufficient.” The locals requested the chief minister and the irrigation minister to revive the Bison Kunta and Kawkoor Cheruvu under the Mana Oooru Mana Cheruvu project, to solve the drinking water woes of people.
