Unseasonal rains have created havoc in Teachers Colony of East Marredpally and the slum in Ambedkar Nagar. Even as water levels receded in other parts of the city in the last couple of days, manholes, especially at Lohia Nagar, were still overflowing on Wednesday.
A commercial complex under construction in Ambedkar Nagar has water stagnated in the pits dug for pillars. Also, a JCB on work was fully submerged and surfaced after draining out the water by electric motors on Wednesday. The rain also hit daily wage labourers’ and masons’ earnings. The residents have appealed to the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) authorities to fix the overflowing drains in the area.
