The National Green Corps (NGC) of Telangana along with the students of Kendriya Vidyala No 1, Uppal, organised a Green Umbrella Rally at Uppal X roads on Wednesday. The rally was carried out to create environmental awareness among public by raising slogans.

Flagging off the rally school principal J Ramadevi said, “The harmful effects of ozone layer depletion include increased skin cancer, eye cataracts, suppression of the human immune system, damage natural ecosystems and adverse impact on aquatic life and climate change. The impacts of global warming are already apparent today in melting glaciers, increased frequency of extreme weather events such as droughts, cyclones or sea level rise, and changes in plant growth affecting agriculture and food production.

These intensify and inflict a significant impact on human societies and the environment around the world. This will continue to increase at alarming rates if no efforts are taken to reduce the emission of green house gasses.”NGC project officer T Radhika said, “It is a challenging mission to save the earth, which can done with combined and coordinated efforts of govt agencies and NGOs. All it takes are small steps like planting trees, limiting the use of vehicles to make a big difference.” J Ramadevi, KV Ramalaxmi, E Jannat along with other teachers and staff were also a part of the rally.
