Mandala Venu, an aqua dance instructor, certified Zumba and fitness specialist trainer has been organising aqua garba events across the city. The latest one being at Taj Vivanta recently. “I always came up with different themes for aqua dance classes and I thought, why not try garba?” shares Mandala.

“Well, it all started with doing something innovative in water, along with two other friends who shared similar thoughts. It was my passion towards garba and dandiya; I did trials in a private pool for two days and then launched it,” adds Mandala.

“It was super fun and authentic; music and garba movements.” Sharing a note on people involvement, Mandala says, “We rehearsed before we got into pool so that people could be comfortable with the concept. For the second event, we even had a live band perform while the ladies tried out aqua garba.”

Aqua Dance captivates the joy of movement and the expression of life through integrating world rhythm and music. Another emerging wave of aqua fitness-dance is the salsa-garba that was started by Sunita Patel, who holds montly workshops across the city.

“The biggest achievement is always when I see my clients happy. (There is) nothing like seeing a smile on their faces after a beautiful session,” she shares.
