A city-based software engineer has developed an interesting Mobile App ‘Muslim Freedom Fighters’ to educate the masses on the contribution and role of Muslims in India's freedom struggle.

Based on a book written by eminent author Syed Naseer Ahmed, the software engineer, Syed Khalid Saifullah, designed a unique Mobile App that has stories, pictures and quiz on 155 Muslim freedom fighters.

The App can be installed from Google Play Store. A total of 155 freedom fighters were selected and have been classified into various categories like Women, Rulers, Martyrs, Moulvis, Advocates, Journalists, Businessmen, Azad Hind Fouj, Doctors, Educationists, Poets, Bureaucrats, Judges and other professions. "Each chapter has been assigned a separate Level.

A user can take a test after reading the profile of each freedom fighter. After answering two out of five questions correctly based on that chapter, the user can advance to the next level said Syed Khalid Saifullah.

A user can also form a group to compete with others. Once a user or group passes all the levels, he will get a certificate of appreciation. However, the users can read all the profiles without taking the test.

Syed Khalid Saifullah said, “The prevailing suspicion on Muslims is due to colonial history writings and widespread misconceptions spread by fundamentalist forces. This often victimizes them of being anti-nationals. Since most of us are not fully aware of the role played by the Muslims in freedom movement, people get carried away with the wrong propaganda."

The main intention of developing this App was to promote communal harmony and make larger section of society to acknowledge the role of Muslims in India's freedom struggle. Muslims too have sacrificed their lives, properties and careers to achieve freedom. We aim to enlighten the masses that people belonging to all religions have made contribution to liberate the country from colonial rule," he said.

He hoped that this innovative Mobile App would be a small tribute to the Martyrs and a salute to the thousands of freedom fighters who laid down their lives for the sake of the country. He said that the App has been launched to mark the 70th Independence Day.
