Béatrice de Fays aka B2Fays, an artist from France, showcased her works ‘Layers of Hyderabad’ at the Park Hyatt Hyderabad as a part of a programme ‘Art Walk’, on Saturday.

As a part of her work, she travelled to many places in Hyderabad like Old City, Golconda Fort, Falaknuma Palace and more. ‘Layers of Hyderabad’ is a unique collection of works in disappearance and revelation, and it depicts Hyderabad in various layers.

In 2006, she emerged as the winner of the programme, ‘Villa Medici’s Hors les Murs’ in India. Since then, she has been living between India and Europe, where she creates paintings connected to the interactive multimedia installations.

“Basically I like to tell stories through different layers like my paintings and multimedia presentations. These art works explains the greatness of Hyderabad. I travelled the whole of Hyderabad and I found the beauty of it. From Old City to Falaknuma I found many people and cultures.

Hyderabad has a 425 year-history and it was built with a good architecture model. I did these works by adding a layer within another layer in a chain mode to explain it,” said Béatrice de Fays.

Speaking about her latest installations of Layers of Hyderabad, she says, “In these installations, the image is moving from one medium to another like painting, sound, music, video and interactive image.

I invite the visitor to come into the painting, which means to go within his/her sense, through material, images, sounds and networks. This installation questions the memory of a particular place and the presence of the visitor.

It is not about adding something to the painting but trying to disclose the essence of things,” In this Art Walk she presented some works like Plant Tombs, Mixed Technique, Link, and Plant Charminar.
