For all the heat and dust and the dismay summer brings along, it is inarguably the best season for youngsters to try their hand at sports activities, particularly because they will be free of academic monotony and examination tensions.
Cashing in on this opportunity, every association, club, academy and even entities like Sports Authority of Telangana State (SATS) and Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) go about their calendar’s ‘Must Do’ listing-summer coaching camps.
It is ditto for children with a creative streak in them. Despite such a healthy scenario, and unfortunately, cricket-inclined youngsters residing in the vicinity of Chital and the adjoining areas have for long been starved of a good academy. This is more so of one that could provide year-long coaching while boasting of the best of credentials in terms of coaching and infrastructural facilities.
In a welcome boost to their aspirations, and coming as a satiating ray of hope, Sujeet’s Cricket Academy (SCA) is bridging the gap by catering to the dreams of boys and girls since its inception at Satyam Enclave in Kompally, a year ago.
Helmed by Sujeet Parbatani, a Hyderabad-based player, who has represented Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) earlier on, it is a fully-equipped modern training facility. The founder-head coach has played for Smart Choice Canada Club besides participating in Chicago T-20 League apart from representing Hyderabad in almost all age-group categories.
It has been a good beginning for him as he enjoys the support of Pepsi, Airlive, Ananya Group, Good Day Enterprises, SS Interiors, Veer Agencies, Russh Hospitals and Netra Eye Hospital that is situated in Chintal in his endeavour to produce the next generation of top grade cricketers from the city.
An early morning visit to the Academy presented an enthusiastically wonderful sight with kids of all ages (coaching is provided separately to tiny-tots) engrossed in their regimen.
The first leg of this year’s summer coaching camp, which is underway, began on March 16 and concludes on April 30 while the second will commence a day later and culminates on June 15.
“The players will be segregated into Under-14, 16, 19 and 25 age-groups. They will be provided training that is best suited to their age,” points out Sujeet, who has five coaches on board while some internationals will be invited as guest coaches at varying intervals, including when Hyderabad hosts IPL matches.
The camps, which are part of SCA’s ‘Young Talent program’, are integral to their quest to tap latent talent, fine-tune them and subsequently provide a platform for securing future goals. The sprawling space has two each of turf, astro-turf and cement wickets. A separate enclosure is earmarked for Under-6 players.
In an arrangement that is likely to bolster the morale of the youngsters, and their guardians, the top performers will get to play in HCA league championship.
“We have been encouraged by the overwhelming response. In fact, it has been of such a magnitude that we are set to unveil our ambitious next step- SCA T-20 League. Jointly collaborated with Yuva Sports League, it will be conducted from May 23 to June 6. A total of 36 teams will be seen in action. The finals will be played under lights,” explains Sujeet, who can be contacted on Tel No: 92915-30005.
