Hyderabad Arts Festival is organising ‘Porous Earth- The Journey of a River’ dance ballet by Kiranmayee Madupu, on July 8 at Minerva Grand, Kondapur at 7pm.

“'Porous Earth' is a journey of a river traced through dance and poetry. I portray a river, her birth in the mountains, her encounters, adventures, troubles, salvation and peace, until she finally merges in the sea,” says Kiranmayee Madupu.

The dance has been set to original music score composed by Sri Ravi Kiran Savunur with narration in the voice of Kiranmayee Madupu. Choreographed by Guru Hemamalini Arni,‘Porous Earth - The Journey of A River’, is a thematic dance production.

This dance presentation is based on an English poem by the same name written by Tejdeep Kaur Menon, IPS. Porous Earth is portrayed through contemporary Bharatanatyam and addresses various compelling issues of the society like water pollution and women empowerment through its narrative.

Before this ‘Porous Earth’was presented at various venues, Premier in Ravindra Bharathi National Theatre, Hyderabad - Apr 2015, NCPA, Mumbai - Feb 2016, IIID Amaravati Chapter Launch, Vijayawada - Mar 2017, High Commission of India and Aru Sri Art Theatres, Colombo, Sri Lanka - Apr 2017.
