Malkajgiri: The Malkajgiri residents want the East Anandbagh Road under Bridge (RuB) to be modelled after the Uttam Nagar RuB as there would be far less property acquisitions and help people to utilise the land on either side of the road.

Locals and Resident Welfare Associations (RWA) approached GHMC project department & R&B requesting for an amicable solution, with a proper 20ft service road for the people living along the RuB project development area to complete the RUB work, which has been stuck for the past three years without any work progress on ground.

In a recently-conducted meeting in which officials from the roads and buildings department, GHMC, HMDA and South Central Railway (SCR) along with locals and politicians met and decided that the East Anandbagh RuB be redesigned.

In the initial design, 54 properties would have to be acquired. In view of the High Court stay order on acquisition of 54 properties that hangs over the area, water pipe lines and other utilities shifting in Anandbagh area stands unresolved.

B T Srinivasan, general secretary, United Federation of Residents' Welfare Association (UFRWA) said, “If the design is changed, there would be need for only a few properties. Residents have agreed for a 20-feet road.”

As several utility works are underway in Malkajgiri, land acquisition has become a major issue. Land is also required for the drinking water project.
