Scholars, IT professionals and faculty from across the country attended the inaugural of the weeklong conference on ‘Data Science Applications and Practice in R’ at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology here on Wednesday.

Banjara Hills: Scholars, IT professionals and faculty from across the country attended the inaugural of the weeklong conference on ‘Data Science Applications and Practice in R’ at Muffakham Jah College of Engineering and Technology here on Wednesday.

‘R’ is an open source software and one of the data analysis technics that helps in extracting information from big data. Among other analysis techniques Python and HADOOP are commonly known. These techniques are used in mathematics, statistical and visual data to get the information. The programme was organised by the IT department of the college in collaboration with IEEE, Hyderabad.

Vice-chair of IEEE (Hyd) P V S Murthy interacted with the delegates after his keynote address. He said that using appropriate techniques for data analysis was the need-of-the-hour.

Delegates from Chhattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, and different districts of Telugu states attended the event where they will go through theoretical and practical sessions during the six days event at the college.

Dr Anantha Desik, product specialist from TCS conducted the first session after the inaugural and said that deep learning was needed to understand the proper usage of R in different data analyses. He emphasised on the importance of data science during the session. He discussed the details of the software and updates that took place from the time of its inception in 2010.

Zafar Javeed, Honorary Secretary, SUES appreciated the IT department and encouraged organisers to host events such as these. Dr Mousmi Ajay Chaurasia, Professor & Head, IT dept. presented the welcome address and informed the crucial role of Data Science in our
day-to-day life.
