Swachh Survekshan programme held
Local legislator Dr K Lakshman has said that the Swachh Bharat programme, launched on October 2, 2014, with an outlay of Rs 12,00,000 crore is being implemented successfully across the country.

He was taking part as the chief guest in the Swachh Bharat and Swachh Survekshan programmes held at Sundarayya Vigyan Kendra here on Wednesday under the aegis of the Union Information and Broadcasting ministry.
If the youth of the country, who constitute 60 per cent of the population, deem it fit to keep the surroundings clean, it is no big deal for them, he said.
GHMC deputy commissioner Bhargava Narayana noted that the city has only one dumping yard at Jawaharnagar instead of the required four dumping yards in the four corners of the city. He listed out the difficulties being faced by the GHMC in identifying suitable sites for dumping yards. Prizes were given away to students of essay writing competitions on Swachh Bharat.
