Musheerabad: Leaders and members of the Telangana RTC Employees’ Union on Monday launched a five-day relay hunger strike in the union office near VST demanding the government to solve the problems of workers and protesting against Transport minister’s statement that the corporation was incurring losses on account of raising the salaries of workmen.

Union secretary Raji Reddy said AITUC State president T Narsimhan inaugurated the hunger strike camp. Addressing the participants in the fast Narsimhan accused the government of totally failing to solve the problems of RTC workers. He claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was trying to make RTC a central undertaking by going in for a merger.

He wanted the government to pay the increased salaries of workers with effect from April 1, 2017, to pay wages for the ‘Sakala Janula Samme’ agitation. Narsimhan threatened to launch a massive dharna if the government failed to solve the problems of workers.
