Hyderabad: One of the biggest challenges in health care today is to preserve the attitude of selfless service of professionals. KIMS Hospital Secunderabad organises a ‘Nurses Week’ as part of the International Nurses Day on May 12.

Ms Anitha, Director Operations, KIMS Hospitals appreciated the efforts of management for making it possible. The week is observed in order to deliberate upon the many aspects of the noble profession.
She said that the compassion was a key component of Nursing. As part of the Nurses Week, all the Nurses took part in the competitions. Competitions like Extempore, Mehendi, Pot painting, and Best out of waste or Quiz are held.

Followed by an event of cultural activities & prizes for different categories like Best ward, Best patient-friendly Nurse, Best HIC practices were being given away. All this is being done to keep up the good spirit of Nursing by a deep desire to preserve the art & science of helping others heal.
The theme of Nurses Day this year was ‘Availability, Accessibility, Acceptability and Quality.’

Ms Anitha said, “We support the International Council of Nurses and the nurse’s role in enduring the human right to health. As a nurse, we have the opportunity to heal the heart, mind, soul and body of our patients, their families and ourselves. They may forget your name but they will never forget how u made them feel.”

This day is very important because today the world pays tribute to all the nurses who give their best everyday to save lives and care for their patients. If it would not be for you all it would be much more difficult to face the symptoms of a disease, said Ms Anitha.

Nursing has been a profession with high standards since many centuries. Nurses are also reaching new levels of competency as the demand for more complex Nursing care these days.
