Officials asked to ensure proper cleaning by hi-tech machines

Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy asked the municipal officials of different wings to make proper use of modernised equipments with correct arrangements to ensure accurate cleaning of the roads. He asked the DCs, ZCs, and AMOHs to personally monitor the cleaning work whether it was carried out according guidelines or not.

Hyderabad: Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) Commissioner B Janardhan Reddy asked the municipal officials of different wings to make proper use of modernised equipments with correct arrangements to ensure accurate cleaning of the roads. He asked the DCs, ZCs, and AMOHs to personally monitor the cleaning work whether it was carried out according guidelines or not.

The prescribed guidelines are:

i Sweeping machines should be able to sweep the road, street etc., at an average speed of 6 km/hr.
i The equipment should have a dust collector/container of minimum 5.00 Cubic metre with water tank provision.
i The equipment should have best technological arrangement to ensure that the dust content in the exhaust air, from machine is less than the existing / prevailing pollution control norms.
i The equipment should be able to sweep an overall width of minimum 3000 mm in one sweep / suction.
i The entire sweeping operation like lowering and rising of side brushes nozzle, operating of sweeping brushes etc. should be hydraulic / pneumatic actuated.
i The sweeper should be designed in such a way so that during travel in the sweeping mode, the vehicle is able to travel at a sweeping speed of 6 km/h. The sweeper should be capable of traveling at its normal / specified travel speed, when going for dumping /discharge of collected material.
i The machine should have a wandering hose of 4 m length for cleaning any heaps in inaccessible areas
i The vacuum suction system should incorporate a cyclonic separator OR other requisite system and required mechanism for filtration system for efficient, trouble free easy to maintain & to ensure that the suction efficiency of the machine is not affected at any time during sweeping, due to dust load and meeting statutory PM-I0 Pollution Control Norms.
i The machine should be self-sufficient in all aspects including cleaning of dust load, during sweeping operation - with or without spray of water.
i Machine must be able to handle both wet & dry type of waste without any trouble.
