Yakutpura: Mohammed Zaheeruddin Khan Memorial Welfare Trust, which was started 15 years back and spends their own family income to the welfare of people distributed Ramzan ration to 1,500 poor and deserving families on Thursday.

The welfare trust was started by Late Md Zaheeruddin Khan in the year 2003 by providing succour to 70 poor and needy families. Now this Trust is serving nearly more than a thousand families. After the death of his father, Md Masiuddin Khan, son of Late Zaheeruddin and Trustee is overseeing the functioning of the trust. He said that all it was started distribution of ration to 70 poor families during Ramzan and now this year the figure has crossed 1000.

The process involves, identifying the deserving families and after enquiry and verification they are shortlisted. The trust also provides ration to about 1500 families throughout the year after similar screening process. “For a holy month Ramzan every year immediately after sighting of the new moon we distribute ration. This year a ration has been distributed to nearly 1500 of needy families,” said Masiuddin Khan.

Each ration kit contains 26 items essentials like rice, oil, wheat, 2 types of dall, mirchi powder, tumeric powder, dates, beans and some spices. The quantity distributed depends on the number of family members. For instance a rice pack is of 15 kg and also 25 kg, oil is of 5ltr, 2ltr, 1ltr, Wheat 10kg, 5kg, Dals will be 1kg and 1/2kg which will be distributed accordingly. “There will be Iftar arrangements with dinner throughout the Ramzan for the devout,” he added.

The services of the trust include monthly pension of Rs 200 to Rs 800 to widows and elderly. They also provide monitory support for medicines. Besides this, school fees to a child from a poor family is also provided.

He also said that this Trust runs only by their family income profit there is no funds from outside. Besides Md Masiuddin Khan, the members of the Trust are Md.Azharuddin Khan, Md.Javeeduddin Khan and Md.Faisaluddin Khan.
