It is pertinent to state that, unless one possesses these essential skills, it might be very tough for anyone to progress in their careers and beyond. Workshops on soft skills, the first one conducted on Tuesday at Hyatt Palace, Hyderabad.
Dr Ravi Sankar Erukulapati, Senior Endocrinologist has paved way for a series of the skills.We hear about various professionals and trainers doing such workshops on soft skills but for doctors to team up and organise a workshop of this kind is very novel and unique in concept and design.
In this workshop attended by a hundred delegates from various professions, Bankers to Teachers, Doctors to Managers participated from ages 18 to 60s. Eminent speakers like Dr Jayaprakash Narayan have shared their invaluable experience and views, interacted with the delegates about the relevance of various themes related to soft skills.
Dr Jayaprakash Narayan, in his guest lecture expressed the relevance of soft skills in the lives of each human, in forming teams and institutions that work towards the good of the society. He emphasized how ideas and attitudes change from generation to generation. He also mentioned that even some very good ideas are not readily accepted by the society immediately although accepted eventually with due perseverance.
He exemplified how it took several decades for even for Europe to accept and understand that simple measures like hand washing can in fact improve maternal mortality in the earlier centuries.
The theme of the workshop is soft skills for everyone and anyone for a better career and beyond which resonated in all the themes as eluded and devised by Dr Ravi Sankar, the main Speaker, Moderator and Organiser of this work shop.
Themes that were covered in the workshop include Communication skills, Presentation skills, Work-life balance, How to say NO without straining professional relationship, How to market oneself in this competitive world, dress etiquette, Is marketing all the difficult in the current world, How to deal with a difficult Boss, Customer and colleague.
Dr Ravi Sankar, while addressing the media has mentioned that the phenomenal response and enthusiasm shown by everyone towards this concept has motivated him to organise several such training sessions for various professionals, all over the nation.
