Gajwel: Kondapochamma Sagar displaced persons rehabilitation colony works are progressing at a brisk place and heading for completion by June-end. It may be recalled that Major Irrigation Minister T Harish Rao had laid the foundation stone for the rehabilitation colony works on March 11. The KondapochammaSagar project hogged the limelight as the first project in the country to have completed land acquisition in record time.

The project has been progressing and completed 60 per cent of its execution. People of the displaced villages Mamidyala, Bailampur and Thanedarpalli gave up their lands voluntarily on the basis of the CM’s assurance. Fulfilling the promise, the government took steps to construct a rehabilitation colony in Tunkibollaram in Mulug mandal.

Construction of 1050 houses for the displaced persons is going on at a fast pace. The government allotted 250 square yards of house site for each displaced person. The colony has been provided 80-feet, 60-feet and 40-feet roads. Harish Rao and Siddipet district collector Venkatrama Reddy have been supervising the works.

Meanwhile, development works of the rehabilitation colony of the Mallanna Sagar project, ancilliary to Kaleslwaram project, at Mutrajpally in Gajwel and Prajnapur municipalities are going on as scheduled. Similar to Tunkiibollaram, 80-feet, 60-feet and 40-feet roads have been farmed in Mutrajpally rehabilitation colony. In the first phase, 200 houses will be built for the benefit of the displaced persons of Singaram.
