Fisherpura: The owners of the pig farm at Fisherpura in Erukala Basti have attacked a 24 year old, Ravi on Wednesday for complaining the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) for the second time over the troubling issue of pigs anywhere around 15 to 20 that are left free and reared as well at the basti premises. He was brutally beaten up and threatened to leave the basti.

The incident comes a little over a week after the SCB officials had removed the farm on portion of defence land in response to the complaints of the residents of Fisherpura.

The issue has worsened in the last few days. “We are abused for taking the issue to the notice of the SCB. They use filthy language and pelt stones against us. There terrific nature is making us panic to take the issue to the higher levels of the board. We are living in panic and have been ill treated from the day the pig farm was removed,” said a resident.

Another resident said, “Around 15 to 20 pigs are reared at the premises and the huge drums that emanate foul smell due to stored food brought to feed them. The pigs are also washed near the drinking water tank making the place unhygienic. We are unable to question them as they counter us back with their unending abuses.”

The residents were left disappointed with the negligent behavior of the Erukala Basti Sangam. “Our lives would be better if we would have received support from the sangam members. Instead we were warned to revert back from reaching to the police station and SCB to highlight the issue as it would harm us and worsen our living conditions,”said residents.

On the other hand, these owners settle themselves at the roadside with alcohol bottles and utter inappropriate words against the women passing through their way.
