Kondapur: The pond near Jagruthi colony became a dump yard which is emanating foul smell and making inconvenience to the residents. It has been more than a year that the pond has remained the same for which the locals have been worrying whether the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) officials were going to take action or not as the rainy season was almost there.

The pond is in a pathetic condition from more than a year and there is no response from the officials yet. All the plastics and garbage of the area is thrown in this pond and because of which the colony people have to suffer everyday from the foul smell and became a major problem for the colony people. The officials said, “To avoid the contamination of groundwater resources and for better rain water conservation we are soon going to work on this issue and as this work is taken care by the GHMC we will also ask them to cooperate as soon as possible.”

Shyam, a resident of Jagruthi colony said, “The plastic and garbage at this area is seen very often, there are no officials or any resident people who are taking action on this issue.” Recently, when it rained here the situation was worst. People could ride their vehicle or even walk because all the drainage water was flowing and it was difficult for to identify the potholes. The only request to the officials is to start the work as soon as possible, he adds.
