Hyderabad: The Telangana Flex Printers and Employees’ Association on Friday appealed to the government to withdraw the ban imposed on flexies as thousands of families depend on the industry for their livelihood.

Leaders of the Association urged Minister K Taraka Rama Rao to collect nominal tax from flexies and legalise their installation. They stated that there were over 4,000 flex units in Telangana providing employment to lakhs of people and that Rs 30 lakh has been invested by each of them. The investments have been made after taking loans and mortgaging properties and gold.

The leaders pointed out that following KTR’s announcement on banning the flexies on January 1, the future of lakhs of people depending on the industry has become uncertain. Hence, they appealed to KTR to withdraw the ban.
