Tandur: Transport Minister P Mahender Reddy on Wednesday called on Railway Minister Piyush Goyal along with MPs from the state and submitted a memorandum seeking sanction of Rs 110 crore for construction of RoBs across the railway tracks in Tandur, Vikarabad and Ranga Reddy districts. The latest developments kindled hopes among the people about construction of the RoBs.

It may be recalled that Ministers P Mahender Reddy and Tummala Nageswara Rao on February 4 last year had laid the foundation stone for Rs 51.75-crore ROB at Tandur On account of the cost escalation, the project cost touched Rs 113 crore-mark because of the delay in the execution. At level crossings on the Vikarabad-Hyderabad road, at least 10,000 vehicle riders are facing troubles.

Mahender Reddy who went to Delhi recently had to return as he could not meet the Railway Minister. With the Lok Sabha session under progress, the Minister again left for Delhi on Wednesday along with some MPs from the state and submitted a memorandum to Piyush seeking funds for building RoBs in Tandur, Vikarabad and Ranga Reddy district. He also sought train halt at Nawandgi station.

Later speaking to media, the minister said that he was confident that the Railway Miniter would clear the proposals from the state on RoBs. If the RoBs are sanctioned, traffic snarls in the two towns will disappear.
